NEEF / Working Groups

Where discussion becomes deliverables.

Working groups take on a defined problem, bring the right practitioners together and publish the result. Each has a scope, a convener and clear outputs.

Active

Energy Accounting, Metering & Revenue Protection

Investigating meter bypass, energy theft and metering accountability, and identifying practical solutions for Nigerian distribution networks. This group also drafts NEEF-G02.

Scope

  • Energy balance at feeder and transformer level
  • Detection technologies and analytics
  • Network hardening against bypass
  • Inspection, evidence and enforcement practice

Current work

  • Technology assessment requests to meter and solution providers
  • Technical briefings from providers, held online
  • Comparing approaches against Nigerian network conditions

Planned outputs

  • Public briefing for policymakers, regulators and the wider sector on available solutions
  • NEEF-G02 guideline on energy accounting and revenue protection

Forming and proposed

Groups taking shape.

Forming

DER Integration & Interconnection

Drafting NEEF-G01: connection requirements, inverter settings, protection review and commissioning tests for solar and storage on distribution networks.

Forming

Power Quality in Distribution

Drafting NEEF-G03: monitoring practice, harmonic limits at the point of common coupling and reliability recording.

Proposed

Grid Resilience & Lightning

Proposed: seasonal preparedness, surge protection and earthing practice, and linking lightning activity to outage records.

How a working group runs

Clear scope. Named outputs. Open review.

  1. Charter

The convener sets out the problem, scope, timeline and intended outputs.

  2. Members

Practitioners volunteer through the Get Involved page; the group seeks a mix of utility, regulatory, academic and industry experience.

  3. Evidence gathering

Standards review, field data, utility input and, where useful, technical briefings from providers.

  4. Drafting and peer review

Drafts are reviewed by practitioners outside the group before publication.

  5. Publication

Outputs are published in the Knowledge Hub and shared with sector institutions.

Engaging providers

Working groups request technical information from vendors to understand what is available. This is technology assessment only. NEEF does not procure, endorse or rank products.
